Talk about it beforehand
Talk about the center happily for a few days before. Tell your child what they will do and when you will pick them up.
First day
A new place is exciting and a little scary for a child aged 3–6. Here is what to expect and how to help your child settle in more easily.
Step by step
Come for a visit with your child. You will see the room, meet the team and ask your questions.
Your child spends one day with us to see if they like it, before you decide.
The first days can be shorter. Agree a pick-up time with us until your child settles in.
After a few days your child knows the order: play, lunch, books, activities and outdoor play. See the schedule.
The backpack
The center does not provide food. Each child brings their own food for the day: lunch, an afternoon snack and fruit.
Settling in
Talk about the center happily for a few days before. Tell your child what they will do and when you will pick them up.
Hug, say when you will be back, and go. A long goodbye makes parting harder, and slipping away secretly undermines trust.
If you promised “after lunch”, be there after lunch. Being on time shows your child they can trust you.
Many children cry when parting and calm down soon after. If you are worried, call us any time.
Your child may be more tired in the first days. An early bedtime and a quiet evening help.
